Are you thinking about one day having a career in health? Do you want to learn about how decisions are being made by First Nations health leaders to improve health services and programs and promote wellness in your community and be part of the process?
The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is organizing two day Data Governance forums to talk about what is needed to create an accurate picture of First Nations health and wellness and to support communities in planning for their health and wellness decision-making.
The FNHA will be talking to members of your community and your region on topics such as:
• Wellness Indicators: "Local indicators, global outcomes"
• Identity Management: "Source of truth – Seeing ourselves in the system"
• Research and Research Ethics: "First Nations control over how First Nations information is collected and used"
The FNHA is inviting you to apply to be part of the conversation. We have an opportunity to give away a minimum of 2 Student Scholarships to attend from your region. This scholarship will cover the cost of travel, accommodations and meals. An FNHA employee will talk with you to hear your thoughts on the forum and work with you to capture your experiences so that we can make sure we learn from you as well!
How do I apply?
Please send us a photo of a place in your community that is important for your emotional, spiritual, mental and/or physical wellbeing. Be creative and landscapes are preferred over individuals. If you don’t have access to a camera, please describe this place for us. Please briefly tell us why this place has meaning for you. Applications that link their photo and description to indicators of wellness will be especially appreciated. (Approximately 200 words).
Eligibility
Please note that you must be 19 or older, self-identify as First Nations or Aboriginal, and be a student or recent graduate to attend the forums and receive the scholarship.
