First Nations Health Benefits (FNHB) continues to monitor fuel prices across BC to help ensure that Clients can access medically necessary appointments when travelling in their private vehicles.

Due to ongoing fluctuations in fuel costs, temporary Medical Transportation (MT) mileage rates and temporary special mileage rates (for remote communities), have both been extended until September 20, 2026.

Please refer to the table below for temporary mileage rates and their effective dates:

FNHB will ensure that all communities delivering MT locally through a Funding Agreement receive the additional funding necessary to support temporary mileage rates.

About the MT Benefit

The MT Benefit is a supplementary benefit intended to provide financial support when a Client is accessing medically necessary health services not available in their Community of Residence. This support may include coverage towards the cost of transportation, meals and accommodation. Learn more about the MT Benefit here.
