FNHA invests in community-driven health and wellness initiatives through grants and funding opportunities.
By partnering with communities and organizations serving First Nations people, FNHA helps foster culturally grounded initiatives that strengthen resilience, celebrate culture and promote health and wellness across BC.
Funding vs grants
FNHA has different types of funding instruments depending on the recipient and the nature of the work being supported. These include Health Funding Arrangements, Contribution Agreements, Joint Project Board Contribution Agreements, Health Actions Contribution Agreements, and grants.
Contribution agreements are the most common and provide financial support under specific terms and conditions. They are intended as contributions toward approved initiatives rather than purchases of goods or services. Procurement contracts are managed separately through FNHA Procurement.
Grants
FNHA grants are intended to support community-driven events, initiatives and activities and not individual recipients. They are usually smaller funding amounts. Unlike contribution agreements, grants are not subject to audits. However, recipients may still be required to meet basic reporting requirements.
Reporting
Reporting plays a critical role in FNHA’s funding process, supporting accountability to First Nations communities and partner organizations. Through reporting, FNHA monitors the use of funds and helps ensure resources are used effectively and for their intended purposes.
