First Nations Health Benefits (FNHB) continues to monitor fuel prices across BC to help ensure that Clients can access medically necessary appointments when travelling in their private vehicles.
In recognition of ongoing cost pressures affecting First Nations families and communities, and following the federal government’s extension of fuel tax relief into 2027, FNHB has extended the temporary Medical Transportation (MT) mileage rates until Jan. 31, 2027.
Please refer to the table below for the temporary mileage rates and their effective dates:
| Rate | Details | Normal Rates (before May 11, 2026) | Temporary Rates (Effective May 11 – Jan. 31, 2027) |
| Standard MT Mileage Rate | This applies to most communities | $0.29/km | $0.32/km |
| Special MT Mileage Rate for Remote Communities | This applies to specific communities as identified in their Funding Agreement | $0.35/km | $0.38/km |
Information for communities with funding agreements
FNHB will ensure that all communities delivering MT locally through a Funding Agreement receive the additional funding necessary to support the temporary mileage rates.
