Carrier Sekani Family Services challenged themselves to bring Carrier communities together for active sports and to build bonds and friendships amongst the Carrier people.

The event involved over 100 athletes from around the area. These participants ranged from preschoolers to Elders and the activities were snow-shoeing, floor hockey and ice hockey. At the conclusion of the events a large community dinner was held where prizes were distributed to participants and winners.

The event was considered a success. The Floor Hockey Tournament had a range of different aged participants. The majority of the participants were teenagers. From all accounts, the tournament was played with great enthusiasm and fair play. The Ice Hockey tournament was for adults that saw a number of female participants and teams of various skill levels. Next year, organizers hope to be able to offer different tournament structures to ensure that fair play and safety are paramount. For the less-competitive participants, there was Snow-Shoeing available. Organizers hope to provide more publicity for snow-shoeing at future events.

The Carrier Sekani Family Services Winter Wellness Challenge was a way of bringing the community together and promoting physical activity. Although it was a competition, all of the participants were winners for being active.
