I would like to thank Bridge Labelle for getting the LNIB Health Centre staff in to the fitbit challenge which is how I got inspired to join the Beefy Chiefs challenge. Thank you to my mom Carole Basil-IN for giving me a fitbit one on Jan 22, 2015.
When I started with the fitbit challenge I was at 205 lbs on Jan 22, 2015. I had a bad habit of over eating when I would eat. I loved eating fast foods and I wasn’t very active. Being a mother of two children I found it hard to lose weight and be healthy and active.
I found it so much easier to monitor my food intake with my fitbit. I love entering in what I ate and how many calories I burned. Everyday after the first week of having my fitbit I started challenging myself to get 30,000 steps a day. My mom is a really big help and motivator for me to get my steps most days and I thank her for that.
For my first month of having my fitbit I made it to come in 8th place on the First Nations fit challenge out of 1450 people at the time. Boy can I tell you that was a lot of hard work and determination. By the end of the month my feet killed but I guess they would after walking 661,000+ steps in one month after being very inactive before that. I try to get close to my mom’s steps but yea that’s wishful thinking for now.
On Feb. 25 2015 just a little over a month since I got my fibit, I weighed myself using the same scale I weighed myself with back in Jan and I was 191.5lbs. I couldn’t believe it at first. So naturally I got off the scale and weighed myself again and it was correct I had lost 13.5lbs. After my appointment I still didn’t believe it so I again weighed myself just to see it again and yes it was still the same 191.5lbs.
I was so amazed just from power walking on average 4.5hrs a day and eating healthy and proper portions sizes I was able to lose weight and the most I have lost since after having my first child. So I really love my fitbit and I say it runs my life now lol. I wanted to share my journey and positive experience with the fitbit. Good luck and get to stepping everyone. My feet have had few days rests and are ready to get caught up in steps.
