Quitting smoking can be very challenging, but it CAN be done!
The purpose of this training opportunity is to build the capacity of front-line care providers to better assist others to quit smoking or chewing tobacco.
What is the QuitNow Live Training Opportunity and why is it needed?
The First Nations Health Authority and QuitNow would like to offer a new training opportunity in the Interior Region for front-line care providers. This training is meant to help front-line care providers build the skills and confidence to have difficult conversations with people about quitting smoking or chewing tobacco. Front-line care providers will learn about all the resources available to them and the resources available to support their community members.
Training information and costs
The one-day training session is free. QuitNow will cover the training costs, and the FNHA will pay for accommodations and travel to Kamloops. Coffee, a light snack, and lunch will be provided on the day of training.
Who should participate in this training?
The training is targeted towards front-line care providers working in communities (community health nurses, dental health providers, mental wellness and substance use workers, pre/post-natal care providers, pharmacists, dietitians, community health representatives, school counsellors, etc.). Continuing education credits may be available. Please note that some content will include medical language and clinical terminology.
