This is a unique service open to First Nations people living in BC. The program includes doctors of Indigenous ancestry. All doctors and allied health care professionals are trained to follow the principles and practices of Cultural Safety and Humility.
To Make an Appointment
Call 1-855-344-3800 to book an appointment. Medical Office Assistants are available to help you. Please note that wait times can vary based on provider availability. Certain appointment types may not be suitable for virtual appointments (e.g., physical exams, forms).
If you have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, please reach out to them first. If they are unavailable, then contact our virtual care service.

The Virtual Doctor of the Day program is open to all First Nations people living in BC. The program includes doctors of Indigenous ancestry. All doctors and allied health care professionals are trained to follow the principles and practices of cultural safety and humility.

Virtual Doctor of the Day (DOD) Statutory Holiday Schedule
Virtual Doctor of the Day (DOD) will be closed annually on the following statutory holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- New Year’s Day
- Good Friday
- Easter Monday
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
- National Indigenous Peoples Day
Virtual Doctor of the Day services will remain available on other statutory holidays unless otherwise noted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors need to apply to be accepted into the program. Priority is given to doctors of Indigenous ancestry and doctors with positive working relationships with First Nations people and their families. All are trained to follow the principles and practices of Cultural Safety and Humility.
Call 1.855.344.3800. A Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will answer your call and ask for various information such as:
- Your name
- Your status card number (or status number of your family member)
- Personal Health Number
- Birthdate
- Address
Please note, first time callers will need to register which can take up to 15 minutes. You will be booked to the next available appointment in your region. Wait times can vary based on provider availability.
No. Your MOA will schedule a telephone appointment if you do not have access to a computer or wi-fi where you live.
You can book an appointment seven days per week from 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Time). Clinics are closed for lunch from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
