At the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), we know the importance of gathering First Nations’ wisdom so that we can share it with all of our people to promote health and wellness. That’s why we’re holding a contest to hear what health and wellness means to you and your community.
To help us gather this information, we have some very important questions for you—and you can answer them through photo, video or written submissions. Your submissions will help us establish an agenda for improving our peoples’ health and wellness for the next 10 years!
Winning submissions will be shared at the Gathering Wisdom VIII health forum to help shed light on these important topics from your perspective. Contest winners will also receive FitBits!
How to participate:
To participate, please post a short story or photo or video (60 seconds max) that brings these question to life for you:
How is a strong connection to culture – things like speaking our language, harvesting and eating our traditional foods and using our medicines – connected to your health and wellness?
How are healthy lands and ecosystems connected to your health and wellness?
How does having a strong community connect to your health and wellness?
Contestants can participate in three ways:
• Sharing their photos
• Short videos
• Written stories
Submit your answers on social media and tag FNHA’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
If you do not have access to social media (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter), or if you’re not comfortable posting it on social media, you can email your submission to: info@fnha.ca and we will post it for you.
As this is a submission-based contest, your posted or emailed submission will serve as your consent for the FNHA to post your photographic image, voice recording or words on social media and in a presentation at Gathering Wisdom VIII. You are also responsible for obtaining consent from any other people in your photographic image, voice recording or story before posting or submitting by email.
