Coast Salish Territory – The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) selected Unist'ot'en as the site for one of three land-based healing projects in the Northern region via a panel that included individuals from outside the region to ensure an objective and transparent process.
The FNHA has a robust conflict of interest policy which includes annual declarations as part of its policies and procedures.
FNHA is aware of a staff member with a potential conflict of interest around this project. The staff member in question has completed all necessary conflict of interest documentation and has met all of the requirements.
FNHA management will continue to monitor the situation and to follow up as appropriate.
The Unist'ot'en Lodge Healing Centre is one of three pilot projects focused on land based healing programs to support clients returning home from treatment centres to transition back into their communities in a positive way.
