As we come to the end of 2024, we wish you a safe and restful holiday season and winter solstice and raise our hands to you for your partnership over the past year.
This year's holiday message is especially meaningful as it will be my last as CEO of the FNHA. As I reflect on all we have achieved together and the challenges we have overcome, I remain optimistic for the future. Our unique governance structure is rooted in kindness and gifted with guidance, strength and wisdom of First Nations leaders, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and youth across this province. Together we will continue toward our shared vision of healthy, self-determining, and vibrant BC First Nations children, families, and communities.
The winter solstice on December 21 has been celebrated by First Nations People since time immemorial. It is a time for ceremony, to nourish the spirit and to reflect on endings and mark new beginnings. Please take this time to rest, recharge and set new goals for your personal wellness. If you are struggling this season, we encourage you to reach out to someone you trust or visit a healing place for support. If you see someone who may be in need, take time to offer a kind word or helping hand.
On behalf of the FNHA leadership and Board of Directors, we hope you have a happy holiday and new year and look forward to seeing you in 2025.
Richard Jock, Chief Executive Officer, and
Dr. Sheila Blackstock, Board Chair
