Adam's Message | Look Inward: Self-Inquiry | Get Out On the Land
“During these COVID times, I've been learning a lot more about myself." – Adam
Adam Gauthier is a member of the Tla'amin First Nation and a youth coordinator for the Vancouver Island region at the FNHA. During COVID-19, Adam Gets Rooted in Culture.
Look Inward: Self-Inquiry
We can learn a lot about ourselves when we slow down and look inward. On a recent Raven (De)Briefs podcast, guest (Saul Brown) said, “We don't need to look outside for the answers to the outside world anymore… what we have is the ability to look inward, back to the brilliance of our ancestors, to the brilliance of those teachings and say 'Yes, these can be utilized and they do have value to address contemporary issues.'" While COVID-19 has created many difficult circumstances, it has also provided a good opportunity to be still and look inwards towards the teachings we carry with us.
Get Out On the Land
Adam is spending more time on the land during COVID-19. The land has always been central to the wellness and culture of Indigenous People. Deepening connections to the land – and practising ways to channel land and nature as sources of health and resilience – benefits all our relations.
