The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is seeking talented First Nations youth artists to create a powerful and meaningful icon for our new Harm Reduction Conversation Toolkit.
The toolkit, entitled With Open Arms: Supportive Conversations Among Friends, is a resource for keeping friends close in conversations about substance use and harm reduction. It will include information and resources on substance use prevention, harm reduction and safety, and tips for how to have supportive conversations.
Submission guidelines
Theme: The icon should symbolize harm reduction from a First Nations perspective, representing values of culture, community, wholistic wellness, or anything else personally meaningful to you.
Areas of focus: The icon can reflect the overall toolkit, or one of the following four chapters: Promoting Healthy Communities; Harm Reduction; Having a Conversation about Substance Use; and Making Changes to your Relationship with Substance Use.
Medium: Artwork can be hand-drawn, digital, or created using Traditional First Nations techniques.
Usage: Each selected icon will be featured in a widely distributed document aimed at promoting harm reduction strategies.
Format: Submit your icon in a high-resolution format (JPEG, PNG, or vector file).
Description: Please include a short description of how your design connects to the theme of harm reduction and First Nations values.
Eligibility: Open to all First Nations artists up to 29 years old living in Canada.
Deadline: Please submit your icon by December 31, 2024 to be eligible for the prize.
Compensation: You can enter up to five icons. You can win $500 per icon selected, up to a total of $2,500 if all 5 of your submissions are selected.
