Congratulations to the weekly winners and the grand prize winner of the Youth and COVID-19 Social Media Contest! The
Youth and COVID-19 Social Media Contest aimed to engage and support youth wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic. The five-week contest focused on a different theme each week and aimed to encourage young people to pursue their favourite activities.
The campaign's five themes were geared towards promoting five pillars of health for youth during the pandemic:
Week 1: Get Fit (focus on physical health)
Winner: Kieran Muller (@drumsforants on Instagram)
Week 2: Get Rooted in Culture (focus on drawing strength from culture)
Week 3: Get Centred (focus on emotional health)
Week 4: Get Perspective (focus on mental health and wellness)
Winner: Jaelynne (@jae_lynnee on Instagram)
Week 5: Get Skills (focus on being proactive with personal growth)
Grand Prize Winner: Christina Liggitt (@christinaliggitt96 on Instagram)
The winners each received a $100 VISA gift card and a
cultural prize for sharing how they stay well, especially during COVID-19. They were also entered in the grand prize draw, which included a $500 VISA gift card and some special prizes from the
Tsow-Tun Le Lum Society, which
provides confidential outreach services such as
counselling,
cultural supports and
personal wellness programs.
The campaign also featured three new Indigenous youth profiles:
Jordanna Roesler of the Dene First Nation,
Taylor Ackerman of the Cowichan Tribes and
Adam Gauthier of the Tla'amin First Nation, who is also a youth coordinator for the Vancouver Island region at the FNHA. Their stories aim to inspire and support youth to stay mentally, physically and spiritually well during the pandemic with messages, advice, personal videos and youth resources.
